Wood River Trail

The Wood River Trail is a 32-kilometer groomed path that connects the Wood River Valley communities of Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley.

The Wood River Trail

The Wood River Trail, known to locals as “the bike path,” enhances the quality of life in the Wood River Valley, allowing residents and visitors to connect with history and the outdoors through running, biking, walking, and skiing along the trail. BCRD grooms the Wood River Trail in winter for Nordic skiers and provides this resource for FREE for all users.

The abandoned Sun Valley line of the Union Pacific railroad was identified by a local group of citizens as the perfect location for a “rails-to-trails” conversion. On behalf of the community, BCRD began construction of the trail in 1984 and completed it in 1991.  In 2013, a two-year levy was passed to fund reconstruction, resurfacing, and rehabilitation of the Wood River Trail (WRT).  BCRD completed this work in the summers of 2014 and 2015, guaranteeing that the trail will be enjoyed for another 30 years.
