LIFEGUARDING AT THE AQUATIC CENTER:

Lifeguards must be at least 15 years old and pass a Jeff Ellis and Associates lifeguard certification course, which is considered the gold-standard in aquatic risk management. Training includes master lifesaving techniques, first-aid, AED use, and supplemental oxygen use.

Course participation does not guarantee future employment at the BCRD Aquatic Center but is mandatory for anyone wishing to apply to be a part of the Lifeguard Staff.

RULES:
  • Swim diapers are required for all children who are 2 years old and younger or are still in the process of potty training. Swim diapers are available for purchase at front desk.
  • No inflatable toys or swim protection (i.e. water wings) are permitted in the pool.  We provide life jackets at no charge for beginning swimmers.
  • No food or drink is permitted on deck. 
  • No running.
  • No diving.
  • Please shower before entering the pool.

COVID-19 Protocols:

LIGHTNING POLICY:

The BCRD Aquatic Center will close if the lightening is detected within a 10 mile radius and/or thunder is heard. 

The pool will reopen 30 minutes after the last audible thunder and after lightning has moved beyond the 10-mile radius. 

Storms can be unpredictable in the summer and our first priority is swimmer safety.
