About the Wood River Trails The
32-mile Wood River Trail system includes paved trails – connecting the
communities of Sun Valley, Ketchum, Hailey, and Bellevue – that are
open year-round.
Built and maintained by the Blaine County Recreation District, the Wood
River Trails have a minimum 10-foot paved width throughout. The trails
are for non-motorized use only – open to walkers, bikers,
rollerbladers, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, and equestrians. The
trail follows the Big Wood River and is along a historic route on the
former Union Pacific railroad right-of-way, crossing several historic
bridges and providing beautiful views of the valley. Every day is "Ski Free Day" on the Wood River Trail; no pass is required.
You can easily access the trails from the cities of Ketchum, Sun
Valley, Hailey, and Bellevue. There’s a gentle 1000-foot elevation gain
over the entire length of the trail system. A self-guided tour of
historic and other points of interest along the trails is also
available.
