About the North Valley Trails
The North Valley Trails consist of a cross-country ski and
snowshoe trail system spread over a 35-mile area between Hailey, at its
farthest point south, and Galena Lodge, located 24 miles north of
Ketchum.
Trailheads such as Lake Creek begin just three miles north of Ketchum.
The Harriman Trail and North Fork Loop trailheads are located at the
start of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, eight miles north of
Ketchum.
The 31km/19.6-mile Harriman Trail, course for the popular Boulder
Mountain Tour, follows the Big Wood River, alternating through spacious
meadows, aspen stands, and lodge pole forests – always with the
majestic Boulder mountain range as a scenic backdrop – and connects to
the 50km trail system at Galena Lodge. The popular Prairie Creek and
Billy’s Bridge loops are located 16 miles north of Ketchum and offer
trailhead access from Idaho Highway 75.
Quigley Nordic, on the east side of Hailey, rounds out the North Valley
Trails with a 10km/6-mile trail system on the east side of Hailey (14
miles south of Ketchum). Access to Quigley Nordic is from Fox Acres
Road off of Idaho Highway 75.
The North Valley Trails are maintained through a
partnership between the Sawtooth National Forest and the Blaine County
Recreation District.
