About Galena Lodge & the Trails During summer and winter, Galena Lodge is a magical place – a quiet, trails-based retreat with rustic character and charm. In
the summer, the lodge offers mountain biking, hiking, dining, a
full-service outdoor and rental shop, guided tours and bike lessons,
youth adventure camps, trail rides, and beautiful facilities for
private parties and corporate retreats. In the winter,
activities include cross-country skiing (skate and classic),
snowshoeing, dining, yurt rentals, guided snowshoe tours, ski lessons,
and a full service cross-country ski shop. There are special events,
such as Full Moon Dinners, where you can enjoy a five-course meal and,
by the light of the moon, ski and snowshoe. There are Stargazing
Dinners, summer barbecues, and wagon rides. And special holiday meals.
The
Galena Lodge was purchased by the BCRD and renovated in 1994, using private
donations. BCRD does regular maintenance projects to keep the unique rustic charm at the lodge. The lodge is currently managed by concessionaires Don Shepler and Erin Zell. To this day, no tax dollars support the lodge and community
support is vital. (Please see help BCRD.)
More information is available on the lodge’s website.
Galena Lodge is operated through a
partnership between the Sawtooth National Forest, the Blaine County
Recreation District and private concessionaires.
